Juan Pedro Muñoz Gea received his Master Degree in Telecommunications Engineering in 2005 and his PhD Degree in 2011 from Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT), Spain.

In 2006 he started working as a research assistant at the Telematics Engineering Group of the UPCT, focusing on peer-to-peer (P2P) overlay networks. Since 2008, he has been an Assistant Professor at the Department of Information and Communication Technologies of the same university. He has been visiting researcher at University College Dublin (2010), Politecnico di Torino (2012) and Telecom Bretagne (2013).

His research interests include large-scale distributed networks, peer-to-peer networks, cellular networks, software-defined networking and video delivery systems.
